Porcelain or composite veneers are custom-made shells placed over the front of teeth to change colour, size or shape of the teeth, which are bonded (glued) into place. They can significantly change the appearance of your smile.
Types of teeth veneers
At Salamanca Dental, Hobart we offer two teeth veneer options;
Composite Veneers
Composite teeth veneers are carefully sculpted and shaped in the mouth, using a tooth-coloured filling material. They are aesthetic, durable, and easy to repair if chipped or damaged.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain teeth veneers are highly aesthetic, made of ceramic and require minimal tooth preparation to place. Porcelain is resistant to the effects of staining. Porcelain veneers are strong and durable, but when chipped are difficult to repair. Often replacement after damage is the best long-term option.
Caring for your porcelain or composite veneers
Veneers need to be cared for just like natural teeth. We recommend 6-monthly routine dental check-ups and cleaning along with diligent home oral hygiene, to help the veneers last a long time.
